Stay at The Castle
Pros:

The decor and options for dining/ seating and views.
Proximity to town.
Thank goodness for two members of staff, we think their names were Jason and Elwyn. Apologies to them if we misremembered. They were polite, professional and helpful. Nothing too much trouble, and smiley.

Cons:

Reception greeting, not at all welcoming. Either times when approached.
It quite set up the expectation of the stay .
Then unfortunately we were told that we could not have food at lunch time because the service was affected by having to serve a function of 50.

Would have been nice to have had prior warning.

However eventually we were allowed to order.

Overall the customer service requires some further training.
When asked directions for areas in the town or information regarding the hotel the majority of staff
Stated they could not help as they were not local. Nothing even a map was offered.
The common areas on the staircase were stained and littered.

Memorable, relaxing stay in a unique location
Pros:

Relaxed, friendly ambience, helpful staff, beautiful, well-kept grounds. Fact that it is pet-friendly and mobility aware. Loved the mad decor! A refreshing antidote to the soulless multi-national chain hotels! Comfy areas where you could relax to chat, read, play Scrabble, cards etc were a boon.

Cons:

Room needed more ventilation, bathroom windows didn't open. At least a fan in this weather (mid 20s) would have been nice. Option of a sheet to sleep under as duvets too heavy in these temperatures. (Mirror was red hot from the light surrounding it! - fire hazard? And switch to turn off was impossible to find. Room 212).

Great stay great in a unique hotel, the restaurant, hotel and outdoor facilities are excellent
Pros:

The room was very good. The decor was amazing the facilities were very good, inc. coffee machine, kettle, TV and Radio. I had a kitchen, living room and bedroom which were all very good sized for the value. The bathroom was very good very modern, with some high range wash products and good towels.

Cons:

The room could have done with the widows being opened before as it seemed a bit musty, but they did have a fan on to try and circulate the air but it wasn't the best.

Exceptionally warm welcome to a wonderful hotel in a stunning location. Room air con asap please.
Pros:

Fantastic setting and magnificent building. Very friendly and helpful staff especially in the restaurant. Excellent breakfast and Sunday lunch.

Cons:

While the room was comfortable and amenities excellent, the room was extremely warm and I couldn't sleep. Two fans were provided but didn't really help and were very loud. At the price, and in a hotel positioned as 4 star, I would have expected air con as standard even in a heritage property.
In addition, the door to the ensuite bathroom was ill fitting or poorly hung and could not be closed (at least 6-12 inches open at all times) meaning no privacy....looked like this was a long standing maintenance issue.

Good hotel if short on facilities and parking
Pros:

The location was good for Brecon. The staff were great. The room was a good size if strangley configured.

Cons:

Parking is real problem so if using as a base to explore the area, you will rarely get a space in the car park.
For the money, a spa, pool or at least something other than the bar and restaurant might be expected.
