Soulful farmstay delivers tremendous value. 10/10 recommend!!
Pros:

Nguyen Shack Retreat is where mature travelers used to higher end hotels meet the soulful and more communal experience of the backpackers life. Our accommodations were amazing- a completely private bungalow had walls of glass overlooking the pond. We enjoyed sweeping views of large heron flocks coming to roost in the treetops while water buffalo tramped home along the pond edge. While stunning, the amenities are a little more backpacker basic, but the tradeoff is more than worth it.

Dining is in an open air pavilion overlook same pond. Adorable dogs, pigs (VERY clean) and an occasional cat provide endless entertainment. The animal antics spark conversation and interaction among guest that is unheard of in a luxury hotel. Oh, and above the dining area is the most soulful yoga space imaginable. Free yoga morning and evening is a can’t miss activity.

We loved the location- the staff found easy riders for us at a moments notice when it was clear we couldn’t deal with driving our own motorcycle, but renting a motorbike or bicycle on site is super inexpensive.

We loved our stay and highly recommend Nguyen Shack Retreat.

Cons:

The AC was a bit finicky. It worked, but it wasn’t subtle. Also, only a few of the staff speak English well. As a result, those few carry the brunt of all guests requests. Sometimes stuff falls in the cracks and they need reminding. They are so darn cheerful and loving one hardly minds the lapses.

Pros:

The room was big and the balcony was lovely to sit on. Although we didn't quite have a lake view (on the end of the row and the lake dries up) the surrounding greenery is lovely, with birds etc.
Pool is nice, enjoyed the smoothies and bikes to ride into town
Free yoga class was so nice!
Laundry service available, lots of info on tours etc

This homestay has a high rating as it also does hostel style double rooms, so if used to hostels this is a step up, if used to hotels/homestays and want a bit of peace, its still good but not quite perfect

Cons:

Unfortunately our first night we were woken at 6.30 but machinery close to our room (farmers on neighbouring land) so although not the hotels fault, it did ruin our experience a little.
Food was okay, preferred going out
Town is about 15 min cycle
Room in general is a bit rustic - bathroom is basic, wet room style, but water goes everywhere, used a towel to wipe up.

Pros:

Die Aussicht vom Zimmer auf den See ist wunderschön und macht die Unterkunft für mich aus!

Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und unterstützt sehr hilfreich bei der Planung von Touren und Aktivitäten. So ist es über die Unterkunft sehr einfach und preiswert möglich einen Roller zu mieten oder via Easy Rider hinten mit zu fahren.

Besonders ist auch die Nähe zu den Tieren. So kommt es regelmäßig vor, dass Schweine, Hunde und Katzen beim Abendessen vorbei schauen. Ich hatte den Eindruck, dass es dabei trotzdem sehr hygienisch zuging und die Tiere bereits gelernt haben nicht zu schnorren.

Das morgendliche Yoga mit Blick auf den See hat uns auch sehr gut gefallen.

Cons:

Das Badezimmer ist sehr einfach und obwohl es grundsätzlich sauber war, hatte es schon einige Gebrauchsspuren. Grund ist vor allem, dass die Wände nicht gefliest waren sondern nur eine Tapete hatten. So gab es manche Flecken an der Wand.

Ungünstig war auch, dass sich die Toilette so dicht an der Wand befunden hat, dass die Oberschenkel Kontakt mit der Wand hätten, wenn ich mich wie vorgesehen drauf gesetzt hätte. Das kann aber auch nur in unserer Hütte so gewesen sein. Auf den Fotos bei booking.com sieht die Position der Toilette ein bisschen günstiger aus.

Wat een geweldige plek!
Pros:

Tja, alles was perfect. Het huisje met uitzicht en terras, het terrein met de jungle begroeiing, de plek, het eten, de dieren de rondlopen maar vooral de mensen die er werken. Heel erg lief en vriendelijk! Je voelt je meteen thuis en wordt behandeld alsof je er al tijden bent.

Bester denkbarer Platz in Phong Nha
Pros:

Traumhafte Oase mit supernettem Personal, Ruhe, sehr gutem Service, mit Restaurant in familiärer Atmosphäre und unkompliziertem Rollerverleih.
Man hat das Gefühl, dass die Mitarbeiter gern hier arbeiten.
Die Bungalows sind mit großer Glasfront und Balkon in Richtung See ausgestattet.
Wir würden jederzeit gern wieder hierher kommen.

Such a great vibe!
Pros:

Such a lovely vibe this place has! All the animals from dogs, pigs, ducks and goats are super content and relaxed which is a good signal!
All the staff are sooo friendly and made our short stay memorable, would 100% recommend!

Ruhiges Homestay in sehr schöner Lage
Pros:

Das Homestay ist etwas außerhalb und ruhig gelegen. Der Garten und die Umgebung sind wunderschön, wenn man Glück hat, kann man die Wasserbüffel beim Frühstücken beobachten. Die Menükarte ist reichhaltig und das Essen schmeckt sehr gut. Das Personal ist außerordentlich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Für´s schnelle Zurechtfinden und Ausflüge in der Umgebung gibt es ein Handout, was einen guten Überblick verschafft. Ein sehr schönes Homestay, was man unbedingt besuchen sollte.

Die Unterkunft ist wunderschön und liegt in einer traumhaften Lage direkt am See – perfekt, um zur Ruhe zu kommen und abzuschalten.
