The ascent of Kilimanjaro can be done from six routes: Mweka, Umbwe, Shira, Rongai, Machame, and the Marangu Route which is the easier one.The popular routes are Marangu and Machame. the climb of Kilimanjaro can take between four to six nights on the mountain.

What to expect

Day 1 Kilimanjaro Airport – Arusha

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be transferred to the Tulia hotel and Spa (https://www.tuliahotelandspa.com/ ) or similar

Day 2 Arusha – Marangu Gate (1,860 m) – Mandara hut (2,700 m)

After tea at the hotel, you will be taken to the Kilimanjaro National Park gate - Marangu.

Day 3 Mandara Hut (2,700 m) – Horombo Hut (3,700 m)

The day begins with an early breakfast

Day 4 Horombo Hut (3,700 m) – Zebra Rocks (4,020 m) – Horombo Hut (3,700 m)

Today’s purpose is getting your body to acclimatize to the altitude. Acclimatization should not be underestimated as it greatly improves your chances of reaching the summit.

Day 5 Horombo Hut (3,700 m) – Kibo Hut (4,700 m)

Today’s stage is long and tough. The trail passes the “last waterpoint” which is followed by the so-called “saddle”.

Day 6 Kibo Hut (4,700 m) – Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) – Horombo Hut (3,700 m)

Today is your big day. You will start in the middle of the night when the lava ash is still frozen and walking on it is easier.

Day 7 Horombo Hut (3,700 m) – Marangu Gate (1,860 m) – Arusha
