Walk Through Tales:- Kolkata, the city of Tales, formerly Calcutta, was the capital of British India for more than a century and a half and carries the old colonial legacies in many grandeur remains at the heart of the city. Thus once it was referred to as the ‘city of palaces’. The English and Scot settlers called it the ‘London of Orient’. It was “the jewel of the East” in its heyday. The tour will take you back to that heyday through the allies and gullies of the
stories of those remains.

    General Post Office

    General Post Office is another landmark of the city. The site where the GPO is located was actually the site of the first Fort William. An alley beside the post office was the site of the guardhouse that housed the Black Hole of Calcutta (1756). The GPO was designed by Walter B.Grenville (1819-1874. This is probably the only remaining of the ancient fort of Calcutta.

    Writers' Building

    The Writers' Building, often shortened to just Writers', is the official but currently unused secretariat building of the state of West Bengal in Kolkata, India. 150-meter long building covers the entire northern stretch of the iconic Lal Dighi pond at the center of historic B.B.D. Bagh, was long been considered the administrative and business hub of the city. It originally served as the principal administrative office for writers (junior clerks) of the British East India Company (EIC). Designed by Thomas Lyon in 1777. it housed the office of the Chief Minister of West Bengal, cabinet ministers, and other senior officials, until 4 October 2013, when a major restoration of the building was announced.
