We will pick you up at your hotel and the tour starts. Firstly, we go to the Temple of Heaven. It is a royal temple where the Emperors in the Ming and Qing Dynasties worshiped Heaven and prayed for good harvest. There you can see the altar building complexes and learn about sacrificial culture of ancient China. The temple is also a big park. Local residents engage in various fitness, entertainment and social activities there. You can experience the park culture of China in this place. Walking distance: 1.3--2km
Then visit the Tiananmen Square which is the heart of China, the famous patriotic education base. On the square, you can see some famous buildings, including The Tiananmen gate which is the symbol of new China, the Great Hall of People which is the place for the highest organ of China state power, the Monument to the people's Heroes, China National Museum and Chairman Mao's Mausoleum. Walking distance: 1--2km. It takes time to go through the security check. Due to the tight schedule, we will take a car and pass by the square to save energy and time.
The Forbidden City is the biggest and best-preserved imperial palace in China. It was the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties. 24 emperors once lived and worked there between 1421 and 1912. There you will see the places for emperors to give audience to the ministers and hold grand celebration and living quarters. You can appreciate the royal buildings and its furnishing style and learn about Chinese history and culture and ancient court life. Walking distance: 2km
Shichahai Hutong area is one of the traditional living area for indigenous people, known for its water scenery, temples and prince palaces. It's a good place to experience the urban life, folk-custom and night life of Beijing. We will have a break in this place. You will see the two lakes, Qianhai and Houhai, Bell and Drum Tower, traditional shopping streets and the alleyways in the living area. There you can experience local traditional lifestyle and the change of the city. Walking distance: 500m--1.5km
In the end, we will go to the Summer Palace. It was a royal garden of the Qing Dynasty and became the home of the actual ruler at the end of the Qing dynasty and the center of political and diplomatic China then. You can appreciate the garden scenery there and learn about the relevant history. Walking distance: 200m---1km. After the visit, we will take you back to the hotel.
After visiting the Summer Palace, we will take a car back to the hotel and pass through Beijing Olympic Square. There you can see some big modern buildings, such as the Birds Nest, Water Cube, Olympic veiwing Tower etc. The square was bustling with activity at night. The night view is very nice.
