Pompeii is one of the most important archaeological sites in Italy, if not the world. See ancient ruins, destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, leaving the city buried under mountains of volcanic ash. Start from Porta Marina Inferiore and visit the wonderful Great Theatre and the Small one also known as Odeion. See places where the Romans held banquets, and discover plaster casts of its citizens, preserved as they were during the explosion. Reach the roman Cardo or Via Stabiana with typical roman shops, such as ancient snack bar or tabernae. Explore houses and everyday items that were still almost intact when the city was unearthed. Explore the main square, thermal bath complex aka Roman spa, palster casts, brothels, and much more. End of tour.
