The Mnemba Island Dolphins and Snorkeling Tour is one of the most popular marine excursions in Zanzibar, Tanzania. It offers a combination of dolphin spotting, snorkeling in vibrant coral reefs, and often a chance to relax on the beach or enjoy fresh tropical fruits. Mnemba Island is a small private island off the northeast coast of Zanzibar, near Matemwe village. While the island itself is private and only accessible to guests of the luxury &Beyond Mnemba Island Lodge, the surrounding Mnemba Atoll is a protected marine conservation area, renowned for its crystal-clear waters and rich marine biodiversity. Dolphins, especially bottlenose and spinner dolphins, are often seen swimming in pods. While sightings are not guaranteed (as it's nature!), chances are fairly good. Mnemba Atoll boasts vibrant coral reefs teeming with tropical fish, sea stars, and sometimes even sea turtles. You’ll likely snorkel at several spots around the reef with a guide pointing out unique marine species.

Swimming with sea turtles in Nungwi, Zanzibar, offers an unforgettable opportunity to connect with marine life in a natural and ethical setting. Nungwi is home to two primary turtle conservation centers: the Baraka Natural Aquarium and the Mnarani Marine Turtles Conservation Pond. Situated on the north coast of Zanzibar, Natural Aquarium is a marine conservation center that provides visitors with the chance to swim with sea turtles in a natural lagoon formed by coral bedrock. The center rehabilitates turtles that have been rescued from fishing nets and releases them back into the lagoon once they are healthy. Visitors can snorkel, feed the turtles seaweed, and observe them in their natural habitat.

Kendwa Beach, located on the northwest coast of Zanzibar (just south of Nungwi), is famous for its stunning sunsets, powdery white sand, and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Unlike many beaches on the east coast, Kendwa isn’t heavily affected by tides, so you can swim all day—making it perfect for both chill and adventure seekers. Soft white sand and clear waters make it ideal for sunbathing and swimming. Beach loungers, swings, and shaded beds are widely available at beach bars and resorts.
