the perfect combination of nature, middleages and etruscan culture. Odescalchi Castle stands on the peak of the hill, with a wonderful view overlooking the entire volcanic lake. The area is surrounded by woods and beautiful fishing villages. The fortress was i bought by the Orsini, lords of the whole region and linked to some legends about the wife of one of them, Isabella Medici, who according to a tradition eliminated her lovers from a trap in her room. . The fort hosted important popes, such as Sixtus IV, the builder of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. The rooms are frescoed and feature period furnishings, armors and still belongs to the family. We tour the lake and continue to Ceveteri and its imprerssive UNESCO archeological park. Who were the Etruscans ? We will learn about them exlploring a very extended burial place ,with huge mounds and tombs dug into the tuff dating from the VIII to the II century BC. Lunch is not included .
