the tour always begins at the Coliseum , and with fast-track access, there will be no time wasted queueing. Once inside, your guide will tell you more about the history of this ancient arena – the largest of its kind ever built. You’ll hear intriguing stories of the violent duels which took place there, and why and how it was built.
A very short walk away sit the Arch of Constantine and the Forum, the next stop on the tour.
The Forum was the hub of life in ancient Rome; a place of politics, commerce and religion, as evidenced by the ruins located there. You’ll see the ruins of the Temple of Julius Caesar, built on the site of his cremation, the Arch of Titus, House of the Vestal Virgins, the Senate House, the Basilica of Maxentius and much more.
The tour will then move on to one of the most recognisable buildings in the city - Il Vittoriano. Built in 1885 in honour of King Victor Emmanuel II, this monumental structure, built in the neoclassical style, is referred to as the “Wedding Cake” by the locals – it’s not hard to see why!
The tour encompasses the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and Piazza Navona, a square built where the ancient stadium of emperor Domitian once stood. The piazza is now home to the old church of St. Agnes as well as Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers, designed in 1651 for Pope Innocent X.
