What sets our tour apart is the way we combine an authentic small-group trekking experience with genuine local hospitality and responsible tourism. Rather than simply visiting Emerald Lagoon, our travelers experience the journey through the Fuegian forests, peat bogs, streams and mountain valleys with a professional local guide who shares knowledge about the environment and the unique ecosystems of Tierra del Fuego.
We also include a homemade box lunch, allowing our guests to enjoy a local-style meal surrounded by nature. Food is served using reusable materials and we do not provide single-use plastics.
At Arpón Trekking, sustainability is part of how we operate. We participate in the Ushuaia Eco Pledge, share environmental awareness information with our travelers, and encourage responsible practices throughout the experience. Ushuaia (Pass by)
Pickup in Ushuaia - We pick you up at your accommodation and drive toward the Tierra Mayor Valley. As we leave Ushuaia, the urban landscape quickly gives way to forests, valleys and mountains.

1Laguna Esmeralda
Enter the Fuegian forest - The trek begins among native lenga trees. Your guide will introduce you to the characteristic vegetation and landscapes of Tierra del Fuego.

2Laguna Esmeralda
Cross peatlands and valleys - The trail continues through peatland areas and open valleys. The terrain changes as we progress, creating a constantly changing landscape.

3Laguna Esmeralda
Follow the Esmeralda River - We continue toward the lagoon following the natural valley and the Esmeralda River. The mountains become increasingly prominent as we approach our destination.

4Laguna Esmeralda
After approximately 5 km of hiking, we reach Laguna Esmeralda. Depending on the season, the lagoon may appear as a deep emerald-colored body of water, partially frozen or completely covered by snow and ice. We will have time to enjoy the scenery, take photographs and relax.

5Laguna Esmeralda
Lunch at the lagoon - We enjoy our box lunch and a hot drink before beginning the return hike.

6Ushuaia
Return to Ushuaia - We return along the trail to the starting point, where our transportation will take us back to Ushuaia.
