Discover the Northern Parts of Namibia with visiting the Etosha National Park, Koakoland, Damaraland, Skeleton Coast, Swakopmund and Sossusvlei.
We pick up from any hotel in Windhoek city
Windhoek’s best-recognized landmark, and something of an unofficial symbol of the city, this German Lutheran church stands on a traffic island and lords it over the city center. An unusual building, it was constructed from local sandstone in 1907 and designed by architect Gottlieb Redecker in conflicting neo-Gothic and art nouveau styles. The resulting design looks strangely edible, and is somewhat reminiscent of a whimsical gingerbread house.
Etosha National Park is one of Southern Africa's finest and most important Game Reserves. It is home to 114 mammal species, 340 bird species, 110 reptile species, 16 amphibian species and, surprisingly, one species of fish. The Etosha Park is one of the first places on any itinerary designed for a holiday in Namibia.
Spend a full day in this world-class game park, visiting a number of waterholes to observe the wildlife. Etosha, translated, means ‘The place of dry water’ and here we get our first view of the magnificent pan.
Another day in Etosha’s unique desert landscape searching out for amongst other animals it’s large population of elephants and marvelling at its prolific bird life. Our accommodation tonight is located just outside the reserve.
We rise early this morning for a day which is sure to prove most memorable. With their intricate hairstyles and traditional adornments, the Himba are one of Namibia’s most distinctive tribes. We spend time with these proud people, learning about their captivating heritage and special way of life.
An early start to see the highlights of Damaraland - one of the last true wilderness areas in Africa; we pass through scenic landscapes en route to the Petrified Forest. We visit the rock engravings at Twyfelfontein, the fascinating geological features such as the Organ Pipes and Burnt Mountain. Afternoon at leisure
Namibia's premier holiday resort! the cool Namibian coast offers relief from the intense heat of the interior; and more importantly as far as the tourist is concerned in these modern times, Swakop has changed, and has become the countries leading adrenaline destination, with a wide range of activities to suit all ages and (most) egos.
Sandwich Harbor tour - You are collected from your accommodation in Swakopmund at around 08h45. You drive along a beautiful dune chain adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean, zigzaging the original railway line between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay. This is an opportunity for a detailed look at the formation of 'the world's oldest desert' - its origins, its composition and its movements. This day trip is an ideal addition to a self drive safari in Namibia, or even a guided Namibian safari that has a few days free in Swakopmund
Catamaran Charters - Experience Dolphins swimming alongside the sailing catamaran, Seals playing around, Sunfish sharing the secrets of the ocean depths and shy Leatherback Turtles surfacing.
Today is at leisure to explore further this charming town. Maybe indulge in a harbor cruise or do a Scenic flight, or perhaps one of the numerous adventure activities on offer.
Discover the fossilised dunes, the red dunes above the plateau and the many wonders of the Namib Desert on this guides drive around Gondwana Namib Park. Explore the Namib Desert in your own time on an electrical bicycle, a trail map is available at the reception.
Its fascinating shape and accessibility makes it the most photographed dune in the world. Visitors are allowed to climb Dune 45, so be sure to visit early in the morning to watch the sunrise over the vlei from the top of the Dune. The Dune is 85 meters high and the climb is well worth the effort as from the top you will be spoilt with the incredible panoramic view of Dune Valley.
Big Daddy is the tallest dune in the Sossusvlei area. This magnificent dune is situated between Sossusvlei and Deadvlei and at 325 meters it dwarfs the other dunes. Should you want the ultimate bragging rights, take a lot of water and trek to the top of Big Daddy where you can look down onto Deadvlei.
Deadvlei is a clay pan characterized by dark, dead camel thorn trees contrasted against the white pan floor. It is a paradise for photographers as the contrast between the pitch-black trees and bleached-white pans, and the rusty-red dunes and deep blue sky make for incredible images.
A pre-dawn start today to visit the spectacular dunes at Sossusvlei, reputedly the highest dunes in the world. Energetic guests may choose to climb to the top of the dunes, before returning to our lodge.
This morning we have a leisurely start and drive through the scenic Spreetshoogte pass (road conditions permitting) on to Windhoek.
