The street has recuperated its splendor and it is very popular for local people who come on Friday and Saturday nights for drinking a traditional hot "canelazo" made of cinnamon with a liquor!

  Plaza de la Independencia (Plaza Grande)

  Located in the heart of Quito’s historic district, Independence Square has as its main feature a monument honoring those who first called for independence from the Royal Audience of Quito in August 1809.

  Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco

  One of the most iconic destinations in Quito’s historic center is the Plaza San Francisco. With its dramatic backdrop of the colonial, whitewashed San Francisco Church against the dark green Pichincha Volcano, it is probably one of the most photographed plazas in the entire capital city
