This is a self-guided ghost hunt where you'll be catching ten restless spirits across downtown Salem, with the Questo app as your scanner. Every ghost is stuck on a mystery it left unfinished. Solve it and the ghost is caught. One of the ten is lying to you, and your job is to work out which one.
The route takes you from the Derby Street waterfront past Salem Common, the Witch House and the Essex Street mall, in about 2 hours.
You'll uncover stories like the bride poisoned through her own wedding bouquet, the night manager who ran back into a burning hotel, and the church organ that still plays at night.
Each stop has its own puzzle: a magic-square blood test, a code hidden in an actor's last monologue, a shelf of antiques with one fake among them.
Best after dark with your phone lantern on. About 1.4 miles of walking, with unlimited breaks.
Hints and 24/7 support available if you get stuck.
Perfect for Halloween or any night you're in the mood for creepy ghost stories.
The game starts at Charlotte Forten Park on Derby Street. After booking, we'll message you a code and activation link. Activate with your own email, then log in to the app with that email. No message? Open the app, tap "Bought a quest somewhere else?" and enter your booking reference number.
You'll start in Charlotte Forten Park on the Derby Street waterfront, where the app connects you as a ghost hunter and tests whether you have the sight with a glowing binding circle. Once you crack it, the sensors start picking up ghosts all over the city.
You'll walk up to Charter Street, beside the oldest burying ground in Salem, where your first ghost appears: a bride who died in 1987, three days before her wedding. You'll read her last note and find the hidden word that points to whoever poisoned her bouquet.
You'll cross to Salem Common and catch two ghosts here. One is a young doctor from the 1952 flu outbreak whose blood-test grid you'll have to solve. The other is an actor killed on the opening night of his big break, who hid a code in his final monologue.
You'll continue along Brown Street, past the Salem Witch Museum, and piece together a senator's evidence folders to find the year that cost her her life.
You'll walk onto the Essex Street pedestrian mall and down to City Hall. Here a teacher's class registers hide the name of a pupil who vanished in 1995, and an antique dealer needs you to spot the fakes in his last delivery.
You'll stop on Lynde Street and use a poster full of the wrong animals to find the one book on the shelf that opens a locked closet. Something has been pounding inside it since the night the librarian disappeared.
You'll reach the Witch House on Essex Street, the 17th-century home of a witch trial judge, and put five museum artefacts in the right order to catch the ghost of a curator who knew too much.
You'll pass the Bewitched statue in Lappin Park and work out the order a burning hotel should have been emptied in. Near Derby Square you'll hear about a priest who vanished after confronting a cult, and the organ that still plays at night.
You'll finish back on the waterfront, where you'll line up the ten clues your ghosts gave you and name the one who has been lying all night. Get it right and you destroy the Evil One for good.
