Most people in Waikiki walk Kalakaua Avenue every evening anyway. This self-guided game turns that stroll into a ghost hunt, with the Questo app on your phone as the guide.
It starts at a lifeguard tower on Kuhio Beach, loops inland past the Princess Ka'iulani statue and comes back along the beachfront by the Duke Kahanamoku statue. Along the way, ten ghosts need catching. They're fictional characters, not Hawaiian legends, and each one is stuck on a puzzle: a code in an actor's monologue, forged antiques with the wrong dates, a burning hotel that has to be emptied in the right order. One of them is lying about the others.
The whole thing is about 1.1 miles and takes around 90 minutes, so it fits neatly between dinner and a nightcap. Play solo or as a group, any day of the week. Hints and round-the-clock support come with it.
The game starts at lifeguard tower 2E on Kuhio Beach. After booking, we'll message you a code and activation link. Activate with your own email, then log in to the Questo app with that email. No message? Open the app, tap "Bought a quest somewhere else?" and enter your booking reference number.
You'll start at lifeguard tower 2E on Kuhio Beach, where the app tests whether you have the sight. Your first ghost is right on the sand: a bride who never made it to her wedding, and a handwritten note with a word picked out in red.
As you walk west along Kalakaua, past the hula mound, two more ghosts show up: a doctor from a 1952 flu ward who gave a patient the wrong blood, and an actor whose final script hides the code that frees him.
The route turns inland up Liliuokalani Avenue to Kuhio Avenue and the statue of Princess Ka'iulani. You'll solve three puzzles in these blocks: a senator's evidence to put in date order, a teacher's registers with one pupil too many, and an antique dealer's stock full of forgeries.
Across Kalakaua from the International Market Place, you'll find a librarian's ghost still shelving books. Something has been pounding inside her closet since the night she died, and a wildlife poster that gets its animals wrong points you to the volume with the key.
By the Duke Kahanamoku statue on Waikiki Beach, you'll catch two more: a professor whose artifacts need matching to their civilizations, and a hotel night manager who went back into the flames for a child who wasn't there.
Near St. Augustine by-the-Sea church, your last ghost is a priest who disappeared after finding a cult's mark carved on his organ. Back at the lifeguard tower, the ten clues decide which ghost has been lying to you.
