But our company is capable of arranging such a short but hilarious trips to the many of destinations Ethiopia has. Hence, this package is one of those short day trips letting you explore one of the country's major historical places. Gondar and Bahirdar have great role in the ancient big historical phenomena of Ethiopia. Tana being the beautiful site in this tour program including the ancient monasteries on it's islands.
Early morning, a short flight will take you to Bahir dar. Upon arrival, you will be met by our tour guides, drive to a hotel where you will check and rest for few minutes.
Your first visit will be to Lake Tana on a boat ride where you will visit to the medieval period island monasteries (beautiful mural paintings, religious books & sacred) on Lake Tana such as: Kibran Gabriel (only for men), Entos and on the Zegien peninsula visit Ura Kidan Mehiret, Azuwa Mariam, Mahal Giorgis.
After lunch, you will drive (some 30 Km) and visit to the Blue Nile Falls. In the evening, you will have dinner and stay the night at the hotel.
Early in the morning after breakfast you will drive to Gondar (180 Km from Bahir dar). Up on arrival in Gondar and check in to your hotel. You will have lunch in Gonder.
After a brief break you will make city tour of Gondar that includes, the Royal Enclosure that is surrounded by high stone walls containing the ruins of 17th century palaces of king Fasiladas, king Iyasu and queen Mentewab and different other buildings such as a library and dining hall. The buildings are a mixture of Ethiopian, European and probably also Indian styles. According to descriptions of 17th century travelers, the interior of the castle of king Fasiladas was extremely luxurious, decorated with gold, ivory and precious stones.
Hereafter visit Fasiladas’ Bath, which is built in the same style. It’s peaceful, shady and beautiful spot, and well worth a visit. The ancient bath is filled with water for the important Timket (epiphany) ceremony once a year. The ceremony replicates Christ’s baptism in the Jordan River, and is seen as an important renewal of faith.
And also visit Debre Berhan Selassie Church meaning Trinity at the Mount of Light. It has rectangular structure and ceilings are decorated with beautiful winged angels, and its walls with impressive scenes depicting biblical events, including the life of Christ, Mary, and the saints and martyrs. There is also a painting of the church’s founder, Emperor Iyasu I.
After a relaxed breakfast, a short flight will bring you back to Addis Ababa. You will arrive in Addis Ababa midday/early afternoon where you will do some shopping for souvenirs. Then depending on your arrival you will visit the National Museum (pre historic, cultural, archaeological attractions). And visit Merkato, the largest open market in Africa. Finally you will be taken to a farewell dinner to Ethiopian traditional restaurant where you will taste Ethiopian food & drinks and a live music & dance.
