The tour begins as we leave Tirana, heading south along the beautiful Albanian coastline. Our first stop is Porto Palermo, a quiet bay surrounded by lush hills and home to a historical castle that overlooks the Ionian Sea. Here, you’ll have time to explore the area or simply enjoy the peace and stunning natural beauty.
Afterward, we continue to the charming town of Sarandë, located by the sea. With its laid-back atmosphere and stunning views of the Ionian Sea, it’s the perfect spot for a relaxed lunch or a stroll along the waterfront.
From Sarandë, we take a short drive to Ksamil, a small village known for its picturesque islands, which are just a short boat ride away. You’ll have the chance to unwind on the pristine beaches or swim in the crystal-clear waters.
We then head towards the Blue Eye, a mesmerizing natural spring with vibrant blue water surrounded by lush greenery. The tranquil setting is perfect for a few quiet moments, whether you’re snapping photos or simply taking in the view.
In the evening, we reach Gjirokastër, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city’s well-preserved Ottoman-era architecture and its dramatic hilltop castle offer a glimpse into Albania’s rich history. After settling into our accommodation, you’ll have free time to enjoy the city’s relaxed vibe before an overnight stay.
After breakfast, we begin our exploration of Gjirokastër, known as the “City of Stone.” We’ll visit the Gjirokastër Castle, one of the largest and best-preserved castles in the Balkans, offering panoramic views of the valley below. We’ll also explore the old town’s cobbled streets, where you’ll find traditional stone houses and the iconic Zekate House, a symbol of Gjirokastër’s Ottoman past.
Later in the day, we drive to Berat, also a UNESCO-listed city known for its “thousand windows” and stunning Ottoman architecture. Here, we’ll visit Berat Castle, perched on a hill and offering breathtaking views of the city and surrounding countryside. You’ll also have time to stroll through the charming old neighborhoods, where narrow streets and whitewashed houses create a picturesque scene.
On our final day, we depart Berat and drive towards Ohrid, crossing into North Macedonia. The drive itself is scenic, offering views of mountains and the picturesque countryside before we arrive at Ohrid Lake, one of Europe’s oldest and deepest lakes, surrounded by ancient churches and monasteries. In Ohrid, we’ll visit Ohrid Old Town, which is known for its UNESCO-listed churches, including the Church of St. John at Kaneo, perched on a cliff overlooking the lake. You’ll also have time to explore the narrow streets, enjoy the lakeside views, and perhaps take a boat ride on the lake itself. After soaking in the beauty and history of Ohrid, we’ll make our way back to Tirana, where the tour concludes, leaving you with unforgettable memories of the region.
