Shivapuri National Park hike is a eco-adventure from Kathmandu. Shivapuri is protected watershed area and forest that is home to more than five hundred native species of plants and animals. While returning back you will visit Kapan Monastry. You will enjoy a fully guided hiking tour. You will climb a combination of gentle stone steps and walking trail to the peak of Shivapuri at 8,963 feet (2,732 meters) in elevation. Enjoy lunch while admiring views of the Langtang Mountain Range.

The starting point is Budhanilkantha Temple (Sleeping Buddha), A public transport is available from city centers to reach the point. Alternatively, one can hire a private vehicle to reach the point.

What to expect

You will have chance to take a full-day hike in Shivapuri National Park, located near Kathmandu. On this trip, you will observe the beauty of the area's lush surroundings as you hike to the top of the Shivapuri peak.

Budhanilkantha Temple approximately 5 miles (8 kilometers) north of Kathmandu. It will take 20 minutes drive from Thamel. This temple is famous for the pond with a large statue of the reclining sigle image of Shiva, Vishnu and Buddha

Hiking start from Pani Muhan gate from the southern boundary of the area. The first part of trail follows motorable national park road which leads to stairs to reach Nagi Gumpa. Nagi Gumpa is the only monastery where nuns can practice Buddhism. Foreigners often visit here for meditation.

It is a steep uphill hike along narrow trails that gradually lead up to Shivapuri. Continue on to pass by the starting point of the Bagmati River called Baagdwar Surroundings will beckon you to rest and enjoy the beauty of the forest.

Finally, you will reach the peak after 4 hours of walk. The top of Shivapuri top is located at an altitude of 8,963 feet (2,732 meters) where you can enjoy the view of Langtang Mountain Range on a clear day.
