At the heart of Catalan cuisine, the Gothic Quarter is an essential place for foodies to try Barcelona’s delicacies. Discover the oldest neighbourhood through its food. We’ll start our journey at a time-honoured tapas spot where you’ll try Spanish classics like croquettes, patatas bravas, and pimientos de Padrón, washing them down with a glass of perfectly paired wine.
Family-run since 1945, this classic Spanish bodega is a living slice of local history. With a micro menu of just four tapas, it embodies the beautiful simplicity of Spanish cuisine. Located just steps from the port, we’ll dine like sailors once did—sharing paper cones of fried white anchovies (boquerones), tasting traditional Catalan butifarra sausage, and sipping from a porrón, the region’s iconic communal wine jug, alongside a glass of Spanish vermouth. *Due to seasonal holidays, weekend availability, and weather conditions, we may not be able to go to this spot but we will compensate by ordering additional food at another stop or replacing this spot with another venue.*
We’ll explore the city’s oldest neighbourhood on foot and marvel at former Roman walls and towers on our way to the next food stop.
After leaving the Gothic Quarter we'll enter El Born, its bohemian neighbour, and window-shop as we wander down picturesque alleyways past artisanal shops and art galleries.
Discover the origins of tapas as you soak up the buzz of a traditional pintxos bar, straight out of the Basque Country. You’ll take part in the ritual yourself, browsing the bar and choosing your favorite pintxos as locals do.
As you digest, learn about one of the most stunning basilicas in the city.
We’ll head back to the Gothic Quarter for the grand finale: paella, a glass of sparkling cava, and a traditional Spanish dessert that’ll leave you falling in love with Barcelona.
