Rincón, Puerto Rico

4 hours (approximately)
Offered in: English

No experience needed — just the desire to go deeper. This is your chance to breathe underwater, explore a live coral reef, and find out what scuba diving actually feels like before committing to a full certification course.

Learn at a real training facility, professional certified instructors, a full marine life and eco briefing, and groups of no more than four people per instructor — not a rushed experience run out of a truck.

All dives are shore entries from the beach — no boat involved and zero risk of motion sickness. You walk in from the sand, which means the experience is more relaxed from the start and accessible to travelers who'd rather skip the boat altogether.

You'll dive Tres Palmas Marine Reserve and Black Eagle Beach, two of Rincón's most stunning underwater sites

Ability to swim is required. Prior snorkeling experience recommended but not essential..

What to expect

Your adventure starts at our dive center on Road 115 — the only brick-and-mortar dive shop in the area. After check-in, you'll watch a training video covering everything you'll learn and practice in the water, so nothing comes as a surprise when you're underwater. Then you'll get properly fitted with your scuba gear — mask, fins, tank — before sitting down with your instructor for a marine life and eco briefing. You'll learn what you're about to see on the reef, how these ecosystems work, and how to move through the water without disturbing them.

From there, you'll follow your instructor in your own vehicle five minutes to the beach entry point.

In the water, your instructor walks you through basic scuba skills in the shallows — mask clearing, breathing, buoyancy — before you head out to explore a live coral reef, descending to a maximum of 12 metres / 40 feet. You'll have your instructor with you the entire time.

The experience ends on the beach.

Total time: 3–4 hours.
