Unlike the other overload Medinas such those in Marrakech or Fez, in the Medina of Chefchaouen you can walk calmly, and enjoy its pace with no disturbance of mopeds or donkeys loaded with skins! The key point to start with is the place Uta el-Hammam, the Medina heartbeat; on this square discover the 15th century Grand Mosque and the famous kasbah museum surrounded by beautiful gardens and houses a variety of antique weapons and musical instruments…that date back to the early 18th century. To the north east, on the edge of the medina, you find the Ras el Ma where you can see women washing their clothes, in the old fashioned way. Finally, every corner of the medina offers a magical view of the alleys of the city or the mountains surrounding the medina.
