Offered in: English

Hiking Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. It is a heavily trafficked round-trip monk trail located near Chiang Mai city that features a waterfall and is rated moderate. While many tourists don't know about this trail, it's pretty popular among ex-pats who live in Chiang Mai to hike up to the Doi Suthep temple (Wat Phra That Doi Suthep) along what's called Monk's Trail. The entire hike up is in the forest, and parts of it are along a creek with some nice waterfalls here and there, so we recommend doing it. The view of the city is also very nice. Besides enjoying the natural route and relaxing time at Mon ThaThan waterfall, there is a small scenic waterfall. Experience the movement of clouds, wind, trees, flowers, grass, and the movement of small little animals that live together in the fertile forest. Enjoy convenient and comfortable round-trip hotel transfer services included in the packages.

What to expect

Begin your journey with a drive to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai's most celebrated temple. From here, embark on an adventurous trek through lush, untamed nature. The trail, though less traveled and scattered with cluttered branches, promises a unique experience that is both challenging and rewarding. The 1.5-hour trek is mostly downhill, making it an accessible route even without hiking gear. Along the way, take a moment to unwind at Sai Yoi waterfall, a small but scenic cascade surrounded by tranquility.

As you continue deeper into the forest for another 1.5 hours, the landscape transforms into a mesmerizing scene, like stepping into a movie. The ground is blanketed with leaves, while vibrant moss, ferns, and towering pine trees create a surreal atmosphere. With every step, you’ll feel the harmony of the forest as clouds drift, the wind whispers through the trees, and small animals dart among the flora.

Your journey concludes at Mon ThaThan waterfall, a picturesque spot where you can relax and take a refreshing swim. This trek combines adventure, natural beauty, and moments of serenity, making it an unforgettable experience for nature lovers and explorers.
