If walls could talk, Malaga’s historical city centre would tell an epic tale of transformation. On this walking tour, you’ll decode the buildings in one of Spain’s oldest cities, learning about its origins as a Phoenician trading post, an Islamic stronghold and, finally, a modern Mediterranean destination.
This self-guided walking tour starts in front of Monumento al Marqués de Larios, the statue commemorating the industrialist who contributed to the city’s development in the 1800s. From there, you’ll stroll along Muelle Uno (the revitalised waterfront promenade) before making your way into the historical centre. As you walk, Manuel, an architect specialising in Andalusian historical architecture and urbanism, will share the stories behind the landmarks.

The tour ends at the Antigua Casa de Guardia.
Passing under the shade of Muelle Uno, will allow you to have a fantastic perspective of the piers of Málaga and the ships arriving and leaving from the city.

The Cathedral of Málaga is one of the best religious buildings in Andalucia. By surrounding it without entering we will discover its history, development and why it only has one tower!
The main street in Malaga deserves a moment to be seen! We will discover how it started, who paid for it and how it became an actual icon.
Museo Carmen Thyssen hosts part of the private collection of the Baroness Thyssen and fantastic temporary exhibitions in a 16th century palace. The entrance ticket is not included in the visit.
The main market of Málaga is a fantastic example of neo-Nasrid architecture from the 14th century. The market is open so I encourage you to enter inside when using this audioguide!
We will pass in front of Malaga City Hall, without entering inside as it continues being a governmental building under use.
