Cachoeira is the ideal place to learn about the history of our ancestors who were enslaved. It is a wonderful place, full of charm, magic and lots of beauty. In the month of August, hundreds of Afro-Americans come to Bahia just to experience the festivities of the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Good Death
The pick up point is in any place in Salvador
This is one the great moments of our tour. here we will have the opportunity to talk with some of the member of the organization. As in Salvador, Candomblé plays an integral part in the life of the town, epitomized by the Sisterhood of the Boa Morte (Good Death), an abolitionist society of women. To commemorate the “good death,” descendants of the Sisterhood travel to Cachoeira each August for a three-day festival and ceremony that has been conducted for over 250 years that symbolizes a passage from the material to the spiritual world.
After our delicious lunch we cross to the western bank of the slow moving river and visit the Danemann Cultural Center where we can also see world class cigars being expertly rolled.
Before we head to the city of Cachoeira, travellers will have the opportunity to swim at a beautiful water fall in Santo Amaro.
We go up the hill to have lunch at a wonderful and beautiful Farm, named Santa Cruz. If its not open, the lunch will be served at a Convent, named Carmo convent.
