The Basilica of San José de Flores is a Catholic temple in the neighborhood of Flores, Buenos Aires, located in front of Plaza Pueyrredón. Inaugurated on February 18, 1883, it was the place where Jorge Mario Bergoglio, at age 17, decided to consecrate his life to God. On March 19, coinciding with the day of Saint Joseph, patron of this basilica, Pope Francis decided to begin his pontificate.

Jorge Bergoglio received the first Catholic sacrament in the Parish of San Carlos Borromeo and the Basilica of María Auxiliadora, where he sang in a chorus "El morocho del Abasto". The San Carlos Borromeo Parish and the Basilica of María Auxiliadora, was already famous for having Carlos Gardel and Ceferino Namuncurá among its parishioners, but this detail was surpassed by this other: this is where Pope Francis was baptized
