Ghent running tour

1 hour (approximately)
Offered in: English

Running is a great way to explore a city as you will be able to cover a bit more ground than when you are doing a walking tour. It will give you the opportunity to see Ghent through the eyes of a local and discover hidden gems that might otherwise not be accessible. You are teamed up with a running buddy who will happily guide you and give you hints and tips on how to discover this city.

Although the word "running" might scare some people off, this is not a race. It is intended for those who want to get a different experience and the pace will be adjusted to one's fitness level. This is in the first place a sightseeing tour.

What to expect

Discover Ghent from a unique perspective on this relaxed and engaging running tour, where light exercise meets history and local stories. This tour is not about speed, but about experiencing the city at a jogger’s pace while covering more ground than a walking tour.

After a short introduction and warm-up, we head towards the historic centre of Ghent. No two runs are ever the same: your guide adapts the route on the day, adding small surprises along the way. We pass many of the city’s highlights and make regular stops for explanations and photo opportunities, so you can fully enjoy the experience.

You will run past Ghent’s iconic three medieval towers — Saint Bavo’s Cathedral, the Ghent Belfry, and Saint Nicholas’ Church — before continuing through lively places such as the Vrijdagmarkt with the statue of Jacob van Artevelde. The route also takes us along the beautiful Graslei and Korenlei quays, offering some of the most picturesque views of the city.

The pace is comfortable and inclusive, suitable for recreational runners. We finish the tour with a gentle cool-down in the city centre, leaving you energised, inspired, and with a fresh view of Ghent.
