This stop is a great opportunity for photos and to learn a bit about how Rotterdam rebuilt itself after WWII into the modern metropolis it is today.
We’ll cycle past the historic Rotterdam City Hall (Stadhuis), one of the few buildings that survived WWII bombings. Your guide will share stories about its rich history, architectural details, and role in the city’s governance. It’s a great spot for photos and to learn about Rotterdam’s resilience and heritage before continuing on to the modern highlights of the city.
We’ll ride through Meent, one of Rotterdam’s vibrant shopping streets. Your guide will point out local boutiques, cafés, and historic architecture, giving a sense of the city’s everyday life and modern culture. It’s a nice area to pause briefly, take photos, and experience a bustling Rotterdam neighborhood before continuing the tour.
We’ll pause at Sint-Laurenskerk, the only remaining medieval church in Rotterdam, rich with history and stunning architecture. Your guide will share stories about its survival during WWII, remarkable stained glass, and iconic tower. We’ll ride across or pause near the iconic Erasmus Bridge, Rotterdam’s striking “Swan” that connects the north and south of the city.
