The Badaling section stands as its most vital segment, once a linchpin of military defense, as an ancient proverb attests: “If one man guards the pass, ten thousand cannot force through.” Beibalou, at 1,015 meters above sea level, crowns Badaling.   After lunch at a local Chinese restaurant, you'll head to Longqing Gorge (30-minute drive). Upon arrival, follow your guide to take the Dragon Elevator. Ascend smoothly, catching glimpses of lush peaks and valleys through the glass walls. At the top, the gorge’s full beauty unfolds. Longqing Gorge, praised as a more stunning "mini Li River" and more dramatic "mini Three Gorges," has emerald peaks, clear mirror-like water, and unique geological features—cliffs, peaks, stone cones, swords, pillars, and crevices, pointed out by your guide. Board a cruise to glide across the lake. Enjoy ever-changing views: sunlit water, craggy shores, and shifting peaks. This 1-hour cruise is a highlight.
