  Arriving in Materuni, on the green slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, you will be warmly welcomed into a local Chagga home for a freshly prepared traditional lunch accompanied by tropical fruits. After lunch, enjoy an immersive, hands-on coffee tour that reveals Tanzania’s rich coffee heritage.   Materuni Waterfalls

  Next, set out on a scenic guided walk through banana plantations, small farms, and lush rainforest to the spectacular Materuni Waterfalls — the tallest waterfall in the Kilimanjaro region. The hike takes approximately 45–60 minutes each way and offers beautiful views of rural life, local flora, and (weather permitting) glimpses of the snow-capped summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Materuni is one of the last authentic Chagga villages before entering Kilimanjaro National Park, making this walk both scenic and culturally rich. At the falls, marvel at the powerful cascade plunging over 80 meters (262 feet) into a pristine natural pool. Adventurous travelers can take a refreshing swim in the cool mountain water — an unforgettable reward after the hike.
