Learn to surf with experienced surf coaches, discover a hidden coastline as you coasteer around the stunning Towan Headland, before heading off to our private Cornish woodland for a relaxed evening of camping under the stars.

Worlds away from the Newquay nightlife, our handcrafted wild campsite is decked out with bell tents, fairy lights, fire pits and all sorts of fun woodland activities.

Ideal for solo travellers, couples and small groups of friends looking for a unique head-to-toe dunking in the laid-back Newquay lifestyle.

What's Included

Swimwear (to wear under your wetsuit) shoes for the beach (surfing) a pair of lace up trainers you don’t mind getting wet (coasteering) and a towel. If it is sunny, we would also advise sun cream and a bottle of water. If you require any medication, such as an inhaler for example, please ensure that you bring it along and advise your coach before the session.
Joining us for a Wild Camp Experience means you’ll be out in the elements from the late afternoon through to the following morning.

    Arrival Day! You will meet your hosts at our base in Newquay at 6pm. Your first night is pizza night! Bring a pizza or grab one from the Sainsbury's behind us before you leave. Once the group is all together you will drive (car shares available) to our wild camp just outside of Newquay for a night of settling into your wild camp space.

    Waking up to the sound of bird song! You will have some breakfast before heading back into Newquay for your first day of activities! Day 1 is the big day with two water activities & a second night of wild camping. Each of the water activities are two hours long and includes all the kit, you’ll need a few personal items for each activity and the weekend, so make sure you see our packing list before you arrive. We kick the weekends off early at 9am with a warm welcome from your hosts / guides, introductions and an overview of how the weekend will run. The weekend's weather, tide and surf conditions will decide which activities we schedule for the morning or afternoon, so come prepared for either surfing or coasteering.

The below description should give you a good idea of how a typical itinerary plays out. Once we’ve all meet each other, it’s time to grab a wetsuit and surfboard for the first of the weekend’s surf lessons. Whether you are experienced or it’s your first time, our surf coaches are on hand to offer advice and guide you throughout your surfing lesson. 95% of people who join us are brand new to surfing, so don’t worry if you think you’ll be the only person who hasn’t tried surfing – – you’ll be in good company!

    After lunch it’s time for the afternoon’s activity, coasteering. Once your group is kitted out you’ll take a short walk over to our coasteering location, commonly known as the ‘Gazzle’. Don’t worry if you aren’t confident in the sea or have never tried coasteering before, your knowledgable guide will explain and demonstrate all the skills you need to have a fantastic time Coasteering. WHAT IS COASTEERING? Coasteering is a fantastic and dynamic activity which can comprise of several elements such as wild swimming, low-level traversing, and everyone’s favourite, deep water cliff jumps. Not to mention scrambling up gullies, swimming through sluices, getting washed around in whirlpools, exploring large caves or learning about the local fauna & flora. Coasteering is an activity governed by the tide, sea state on the day and of course group ability. We set our session times to reflect the best tide conditions of the day. Guaranteeing we’re able to provide the best coasteer possible.

    Once the day’s water activities are finished you’ll have time to grab your belongings for the evening and visit the supermarket across the road from our base before we leave in convoy to our wild campsite. We recommend some bbq food and one or two of your favourite drinks, we’ll provide the rest. For those without transport, we’ll help you arrange a lift share with other members of the group. The wild camp is a lovingly crafted space in our own private woodlands set on a working dairy farm in the heart of Cornwall. After a quick introduction to the camp, you’ll want to settle into your shared Bell tent (air bed & pillow provided) before the evening activities begin. With axe throwing, balance games and firefighting skills there’s plenty going on throughout the evening to keep you entertained. Finish the night off with stories around the campfire, roasting marshmallows or one or two of your favorite drinks before sleeping soundly under the stars.

    Sunday morning starts with tea & coffee, simple cereals and fruit. If you have personal dietary requirements or feel you’d need something more substantial please ensure you bring this with you. After breakfast it’s time to wave goodbye to the wild camp and head back to Newquay, jump into a wetsuit and hit the Cornish waves one last time. Your second surf lesson builds on the previous days experience – Today is all about having fun in the surf! After a general overview of surf conditions, recapping the fundamentals it’s straight into the ocean to get the most of your time in the sea – your coaches will as always on hand giving personal feedback and goals to aim for in your surfing. By 1pm we are typically all surfed out, with your appetite for adventure satisfied it’s time to say fond farewells…
