Participate in a unique activity with marine biologists while dedicating yourself to cleaning up the Tejo River. During this experience, you will collect plastics and microplastics, contributing to environmental preservation. Also, enjoy the iconic view of Lisbon’s monuments from the waters of the Tejo River, creating memories while making a difference. This activity not only promotes awareness about pollution, but also provides a new perspective of the city that you cannot miss.

What to expect
Discover the monuments of Lisbon from the riverfront on a guided tour.
Admire the city horizon and get to know the Castle of St. George, the National Pantheon, the statue of Christ the King, the Monument to the Discoveries and the Tower of Bethlehem.
You will help our marine biologists build the MicroPlastic network and collect marine garbage along the way. The MicroPlastic network will be removed for 20 minutes in the middle of the Tejo River canal at low speed (3 knots) and 10 minutes to interpret the collected material. This is used for our research on microplastics in Lisbon, so we will send the collected data to our partner research institute.
The crew will also talk about the threats to marine biodiversity in the region, the problems of plastic pollution and the monuments seen from the river.
All participants will wear lifeguards throughout the ride, despite going at low speed.
