This inspiring and evocative full-day tour in Ho Chi Minh City will show life during the Vietnam War from a local perspective. Begin the tour at 8:30am with pickup from your hotel in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City. Start visiting to the imposing Dong Khoi Street (formerly Rue Catinat). Following our destination program, we will visit The Independence Palace, publicly known as the Reunification Convention Hall, is a landmark in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon), Vietnam.
Next, we will go to the Notre Dame Cathedral, the most famous landmark in Vietnam as the twin bell towers can be seen from a long distance. Please take notes: **The Notre Dame Cathedral have been being restored, so the guests just visit outside.
In the same square is the famous Saigon Post Office, the largest functioning post office in Vietnam. What makes this Post Office so extraordinary is that it was designed and built by Gustave Eiffel who also designed and built the Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty.
Then, we will visit War Remnants Museum, located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, is dedicated to covering the atrocities of war. It features photographs of victims of the Vietnam War (called the American War in Vietnam) and retired artillery pieces used by American forces during the war. Have lunch at the restaurant.
We then leave the city to visit and experience the Cu Chi Tunnels. It takes approximately one and a half hours of car driving. Upon arrival, you will learn more about how the tunnels were constructed and how the people survived in the harsh conditions of war-time by the introductory video, Then, take some time to explore the rest area and tunnel systems which include the specially constructed living areas with kitchens, and bedrooms side by side with other martial facilities like storage, weapons factories, field hospitals, and command center helping whoever lives inside the tunnels meet their basic needs. Continue exploring many hidden trap doors and dangerous traps within the mazelike tunnels for security purposes during the war. - Afterward, special tea and cassava (guerilla’s food during the war) will be served. - Break time for relaxation or arrive at a firing range, where you can fire an M16 or AK-47 if you want to try shooting a real gun. -5h30 pm: Return to Saigon. End trip.
