  Klaipeda Old City

  Klaipeda’s Old Town is the historic heart of the city and the only example of a German-style old town in Lithuania. Its narrow streets still follow the medieval layout, and many buildings reflect the city’s Prussian and Hanseatic past. As you walk through the area, you will notice fachwerk (half-timber) architecture, cozy courtyards, and small artisan workshops. The Old Town is also known for its playful sculptures, such as the famous Black Ghost near the castle site and the Mysterious Mouse. The Theatre Square, with the statue of Ann from Tharau, is one of the main gathering points and a symbol of old Klaipeda.
