rive to Kumasi (Drive time 4.5 hours), Ghana’s second city and home of the old Ashanti Kingdom. Explore the city including the Ashanti Cultural Centre, which gives a great insight into what once was one of the most powerful kingdoms in the region. Visit the kente village.
After breakfast we will visit National Cultural Center which features the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum and various studios of brass-makers, potters and batik makers. Exhibits in this museum include a replica of the famed Golden Stool, which is believed to have descended from the sky and is the spiritual symbol of unity for the Ashanti people. Next stop will be Manhyia Palace Museum to obtain firsthand information on the legacies of the Ashanti kingdom, a regal history that dates back to 1700 and is told with relics and artifacts
Long drive to Cape Coast(Drive time 4 hours). Stop at Asin Manso Slave market to wins the last bath of enslaved Africans before transport to the various slave castles.
Relax at the beach in the morning before visiting the Elmina Castle. Tour the first European structure built in West Africa by the Portuguese for trade and later turned into a slave castle. Proceed to the Kakum National Park and walk on the suspended bridges. Hike in the virgin forest and learn about the medicinal and spiritual value of the various trees in the forest. Return to Accra for drop off at any location of your choice
