Visit the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary. Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is best known for its incredibly high density of one-horned rhinoceroses. In fact, it has one of the highest concentrations of Indian one-horned rhinoceros in the world, making sightings almost guaranteed. But that’s not all that makes Pobitora special: It’s a paradise for bird lovers, with over 200 species including migratory birds, earning it a reputation as a mini birding hotspot in Assam. The sanctuary is relatively small, which means wildlife spotting is easier and more frequent compared to larger parks. It’s often called a “mini version of Kaziranga National Park” because of its similar landscape but more compact size. If you want a quick, high-probability wildlife experience in Assam without spending days, Pobitora is one of the best choices.
