The private tour to the Uyuni Salt Flat from San Pedro de Atacama begins at 7:00 a.m. with pickup from your accommodation. You'll be transferred to the border in a minibus. Upon arrival, while the necessary immigration procedures are being completed, the driver will load all luggage into the 4x4 vehicle that will be used for the tour. Once everything is ready, breakfast will be served and your Bolivian adventure begins! *Please note that waiting times for border procedures can range from just a few minutes to up to an hour.
You’ll enter the Eduardo Abaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve, starting with a visit to the White and Green lagoons, located at the base of the Licancabur Volcano. The journey then continues across the surreal landscapes of the Salvador Dalí Desert, leading to the Polques hot springs. There, you can relax with a soothing dip in natural thermal waters, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the high Andes. We’ll recharge with lunch overlooking the hot springs before heading out to explore a small geyser field. The day’s final stop is the stunning Laguna Colorada, home to flocks of pink flamingos. We’ll take a walk to a scenic viewpoint, where you can soak in panoramic views of this vibrant red lagoon. Afterward, the driver will take us to our selected accommodation within the reserve, where dinner will be served and we’ll spend the night resting.
After breakfast at the lodge, you'll head to the Valley of the Rocks, where wind and time have shaped the stones into remarkable formations. The journey continues to Laguna Negra, reached by a small stream often dotted with llamas. You'll have time to explore the area freely before returning to the vehicle, where lunch will be ready. Next, you'll visit Anaconda Canyon, featuring a winding river at its base and dramatic views from above—note that it's not ideal for those with vertigo. The day’s final stop is the Sora Wetland, rich in Andean wildlife like birds and camelids, offering a striking contrast to the dry landscapes seen earlier. To end the day, your driver will take you to your accommodation—either a high-quality salt lodge or the famous Palacio de Sal hotel. Both are built entirely from salt and located near the Uyuni Salt Flat.
The day begins early to catch the sunrise over the Uyuni Salt Flat. As the first light spreads across the salt, you’ll have free time to enjoy the magical atmosphere before heading to Inca Huasi, a cactus-covered island in the heart of the salt flat. After exploring the island, breakfast is served nearby. We then return to the salt flat to enjoy more free time and take the iconic perspective photos. From January to March, the area is often flooded, creating the famous mirror effect—though access to Inca Huasi may be limited and the itinerary could change. Around midday, we begin our exit, stopping at the Island of Flags, the Dakar Monument, and the salt craft market in Colchani. We also visit the Train Cemetery and the town of Uyuni. After lunch, we start the return trip—about three hours—back to the same lodging as the first night: either a hostel in Villa Mar or the Hotel Mallku.
The day begins early, with breakfast served around 5 a.m. Afterward, your driver will take you to the Bolivia–Chile border. Once the border procedures are completed, you'll switch vehicles—just like on the first day—for the drive back into Chile. You’ll arrive in San Pedro de Atacama around 1:00 p.m., marking the end of your 4-day private journey to the Uyuni Salt Flat from San Pedro de Atacama.
