    Your adventure begins around 11:00 AM, with pickup from your accommodation in El Chaltén. From there, you’ll travel along Route 23 toward the stunning Lago del Desierto. The scenic drive to Punta Sur covers approximately 37 km (2 hours) through breathtaking Patagonian mountain landscapes. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of the Andes mountain range, pristine forests, and glacial valleys.

    Upon arrival at Punta Sur, you’ll board a boat for a 20-minute scenic navigation across Lago del Desierto to reach the Vespignani Reserve. During the crossing, you’ll have incredible views of the Huemul Glacier, the Vespignani Glacier and the impressive north face of Mount Fitz Roy This peaceful boat ride offers a unique perspective of Patagonia’s dramatic landscapes.

    Once at the reserve, you’ll be welcomed at the visitor dome where a guide will explain the available hiking options. You can choose from three self-guided trails, depending on your preferred difficulty level: Low, Medium or High. Each trail is well-marked and allows you to explore at your own pace. You will have approximately 2 hours to complete your chosen hike. The medium and high difficulty trails reward hikers with the best panoramic views of the Vespignani Glacier, Mount Fitz Roy and Lago del Desierto. These viewpoints offer some of the most breathtaking photo opportunities in the region.

    El Chalten

    After your hike, enjoy a hot beverage (coffee or hot chocolate) with cookies before boarding the boat back to Punta Sur. From there, you will return by road to El Chaltén, arriving at approximately 5:30 PM.
