What to expect

This route offers hikers a unique experience, connecting them with volcanic landscapes and allowing them to enjoy breathtaking views of Teide National Park. We’ll cross a lava-and-ash meadow framed by Canary Island pines contrasting sharply with the dark terrain and blue sky. En route, we will observe volcanic formations, ash cones, and vegetation adapted to this inhospitable environment, including broom, rockrose, and mountain rose. We will then climb to the summit of Samara Mountain (1,937 m) where we can see not only its crater, but also the many volcanoes that make up this ridge, including Pico Viejo (3,135 m) and Teide (3,715 m), as well as much of the Corona Forestal. This natural area was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007 and has featured in famous science fiction films. If the weather is good, we will be able to see three of the neighbouring islands: La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma in a magnificent view. At the end of the tour, we will celebrate with a toast at a local restaurant, sharing photos and memories of this wonderful place. Wear hiking shoes or trainers with good soles and bring raincoat, warm clothes, hat, sun protection and enough water with you.
