What to expect

A scenic route with continuous ascents and descents of high contrasts that follows an old shepherding and communication trail between old farmhouses and villages in the mountains of north-western Tenerife. Surrounded by endemic vegetation and impressive gorges, we will enjoy a bird's eye view of a magnificent natural setting with the Atlantic Ocean and the silhouettes of the islands of La Gomera and La Palma. We will pass from the northern slope of the Teno Rural Park to the south, where the vegetation and the climate change. Our destination is one of the most picturesque mountain villages in the Canary Islands, famous for its unique gorge, magnificent natural setting and traditional architecture. On arrival in Masca, we will enjoy a break in a restaurant with a terrace where we can have the traditional Canarian coffee ‘barraquito’ or taste some tapas with local wine (not included in the price). Distance 6 km. + 350 / - 400 m elevation gain. 3.5 hrs walk. Experience and a sure foot are required. Bring hiking boots or sports shoes, water, raincoat, hat and sunscreen. Hike suitable for children 12 years and older.
