Many people have always associated Mt Faber with the Cable Car station, not knowing there is more to discover in this area including its steep history stretching back more than 200 years ago.
From the trailhead, a quick climb via Marang Trail to the highest point along the Southern Ridges yields panoramic views of Singapore’s beautiful harbour and the southern islands on one side and on another side.
Next, we continue hiking along the Southern Ridges to discover interesting native flora and built heritage, and enjoy refreshing views atop the highest pedestrian bridge and one of the most beautiful bridges in Singapore – Henderson Waves.
We will also visit one of the last remaining mangrove wetlands in the south, nestled in one of Singapore’s four nature reserves – Labrador Nature Reserve. Amidst the myriad coastal flora and fauna, climb another ‘forgotten’ hill and immediately be immersed in the history of a 140+ year-old military fort, built to protect Singapore Harbour.
