What to expect

Step into the captivating world of Noh–a traditional Japanese performing art that fuses music, dance, drama, and spirituality. This experience combines Japanese performance, spirituality, culture, and cuisine with an overnight stay at a Buddhist temple facility in Kanagawa Prefecture.

Your journey begins by checking in at the local shukubo, a historical facility at a Buddhist temple (and your accommodation for the night). Over 300 years old, this family-owned residence is steeped in history and spiritual significance.

Next, venture towards the Noh performance stage; a translator will explain the history and culture of Noh, and then you’ll have the chance to don Noh masks and traditional attire! Head back to the shukubo for a special dinner featuring local ingredients and regional specialties (tofu and sukiyaki). After a restful sleep, enjoy a nourishing breakfast then change into sacred garb to begin your adventure! You’ll carry a symbolic wooden sword toward Afuri Shrine, relax during a cable car ride with panoramic views of Mt. Oyama, and end with a special meal at a quaint cafe.
