"Catch of the day" Whale-watching, Icy strait point, Hoonah

***PRINT OUT OR SCREEN SHOT DIRECTIONS TO PICKUP LOCATION PRIOR TO ARRIVAL AS THERE IS NO CELL SERVICE AT ICY STRAIT POINT PORT***

ALLOW ENOUGH TIME TO GET FROM YOUR SHIP TO THE PICK UP LOCATION.
ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE TO RIDE THE GONDOLA FROM THE WILDERNESS DOCK TO THE MAIN PORT.

If you are docked at the OCEAN LANDING DOCK it will take the AVERAGE walker about 10-15 minutes to walk the flat, easy walk through the port to the pickup location by the Main Gate/Shuttle Bus Round About. Walk along the boardwalk. Enter either the Cannery Museum or the Alaska Gift Shop building. Walk ALL THE WAY THROUGH either building and exit at the end. ** Early morning tours may have to walk AROUND these buildings if they are closed** Continue past Lil Gen's Doughnut Shop, past the "Ticket" booth and continue to the Main Shuttle Bus Round About surrounded by large logs. On the far side of Round About exit between City of Hoonah Visitor Info Booth and red Security shack. Driver will be there with WHITE Catch of the Day sign. If you arrive before the driver you can wait on the paved path just on the other side of the red security shack.

If you are docked at the WILDERNESS DOCK you will need to allow EXTRA time for the line at the FREE green gondola from the ship dock into the main port area. The gondola ride is approximately 7 minutes long. Exit the gondola and take the small gravel path to the Excursion Hub. Go THROUGH the Excursion Hub. Enter either the Alaska Gift Shop or the Cannery Museum. Walk ALL THE WAY THROUGH the building and exit. **Early morning tours may have to WALK around buildings if they are closed** Continue walking past Lil Gen's Doughnut Shop, past the "Ticket" booth toward the main shuttle bus round about circled by large logs. On the far side of the Round About exit between the City of Hoonah Visitor Info booth and red Security shack. Driver will be on other side of Security shack with WHITE Catch of the Day sign.
If you arrive before the driver you can wait on the beginning of the paved path just on the other side of the red security shack.

There is approximately 10-20 minutes of walking required to get from the ship dock through the port to the pick up location at the main entrance of the port. The transportation bus has 3 large steps to get into the bus. Getting to the tour boat requires walking down a 50' ramp that may be very steep depending on the tide. The ramp does have traction and hand rails. Due to limited space we are unable to store walkers, scooters or other mobility devices on the bus or the tour boat.
