This tour will give you a glimpse of this multicultural city in three different areas, including: a ride along the seaside for a view of the entire bay from Posillipo and Mergellina; a walk in the opulent monumental district that includes Piazza Plebiscito, Palazzo Reale and Teatro San Carlo; a walk along Spaccanapoli, the oldest urban settlement of Greek origins. The Greek philosopher Homer, in his epic poem the Odyssey, tells the story of Ulysses and his travels to the Italian coasts. As he approached these waters he encountered sirens who tried to lure sailors into the sea with their enchanting song, and then kill them. Ulysses, already warned by the sorceress Circe, put wax plugs in the ears of his sailing companions and tied himself to the mast of the ship, to resist the attractive creatures: one of these, the mermaid Parthenope, landed on the islet of Megaride, where the Castello dell'Ovo stands. Hence the other name of Naples, Partenope.

From the starting point, walk along the ancient Castel dell'Ovo, the oldest standing fortress in the city (12th century) set in an ancient fishing village (Borgo Marinari) to reach the monumental area. This district has a series of prestigious buildings side by side, such as: the Maschio Angioino castle (1279); Teatro Real San Carlo (1737); Royal Palace (1644); Piazza del Plebiscito, the largest in the city; Galleria Umberto, shopping center from 1887; the neoclassical church of San Francesco di Paola from 1820 inspired by the Pantheon in Rome and much more. Visit from the outside there is no entrance fee.
The second part will be the historic center "Naples splitter" (Spaccanapoli), an ancient Greek urban structure and the heart of the city: a pedestrian area full of small shops and workshops, cafes and restaurants, street artists and street vendors who attract locals and strangers every day. A few steps from countless ancient palaces, churches, art and craft shops and gateway to the underground city with its archaeological remains. Ticket Rione terra 5 euro
The third part of the visit is a bus ride along the sea and up to the Posillipo hill from which you can take a snapshot of the city's most popular panorama that embraces the entire bay, the island of Capri and Vesuvius.
The castle dominates the scenic Piazza Municipio and is the seat of the Neapolitan Society of Homeland History and of the Naples Committee of the Institute for the History of the Italian Risorgimento, housed in the premises of the SNSP. The complex also houses the Civic Museum, which includes the Palatine chapel and the museum itineraries on the first and second floors. The Valenzi Foundation has its representative office there, inaugurated on 15 November 2009 by the then President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano and other authorities, as part of the celebration of the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Maurizio Valenzi.
