Mount Vesuvius, which dominates the skyline of Naples, is known worldwide for its devastating eruption in 79 AD. which destroyed the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Start your day with pickup from a meeting point in central Naples, leave the city behind, and enjoy a delicious lunch with your group before starting the 500-meter climb to the top. Once at the top, follow the path along the impressive crater, enjoy the spectacular view of the Bay of Naples.
Even though Vesuvius is a quiescent volcano, you're likely to see clouds of smoke rising from the crater. The experience requires good athletic condition. Make sure you bring drinks. There are several stops along the way to recover your energy before continuing towards the summit.
