There you can watch in real time the passage of huge ships, while you learn about the workings of this marvel of engineering. The experience is complemented by the screening of an educational film that chronicles the history of the Canal, from its construction to its current impact on world trade. You will also have access to interactive exhibition rooms, which explain the operation of the Canal, its cultural, environmental and economic importance.     The Old Town of Panama, also known as Casco Viejo, was founded in 1673 after the destruction of the ancient city by pirates. This historic sector retains a delightful contrast between Spanish colonial architecture and French style, with cobblestone streets, wrought iron balconies and colourful restored facades. In 1999 it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is one of the most visited places in the city. During the tour we will explore its historic squares and monuments, such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Church of San José with its famous Golden Altar, the Plaza de Francia, dedicated to the builders of the Canal, Plaza Herrera and Plaza Bolivar, surrounded by cafes, galleries and historic buildings.     Amador Causeway (Calzada de Amador)

    The Amador Causeway is one of the most picturesque and visited areas of Panama City. This 6-kilometer breakwater, built with rocks dug during the creation of the Panama Canal, connects the city with the islands of Naos, Perico, Culebra and Flamenco. From here you can admire panoramic views of the modern skyline, the imposing Bridge of the Americas, the Canal entrance and the bay. It is an ideal place for walking, cycling or just relaxing in front of the sea.     We will visit Panama La Vieja, the first European settlement on the American Pacific coast, founded on August 15, 1519 by the conquistador Pedro Arias Dávila. This city was key to Spanish expansion in America and functioned as a starting point for expeditions to South America. During the tour we will walk through its cobblestone streets to admire the ruins of the old cathedral, convents, colonial houses and squares, which still preserve the spirit of the time. In 1671, the city was attacked and destroyed by the famous pirate Henry Morgan, forcing its inhabitants to move to a new, safer location, known today as the Old Town or Old Town. Panama La Vieja, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is a place full of history, ideal for understanding the origins of the city and its colonial legacy.

    08:00 a.m. – Departure from the hotel lobby We will start our tour through the Isthmus of Panama, following the Channel Basin, where you can observe the flora, tropical fauna and the huge ships that cross this interoceanic way. Our first stop will be in the locks of Agua Clara, part of the widening of the Canal, where you will see up close the passage of large neopanamax vessels. We will continue to Portobelo, a city discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1502 and officially founded in 1597. It was one of the most important ports of the Spanish Empire, key in the export of precious metals. We will visit historical monuments such as the Fort of San Jerónimo, San Felipe, the Church of the Black Christ, the Royal Customs and Fort Santiago. We will finish with an Afro-Antilian lunch, typical of local culture.
