Spend the afternoon exploring the hidden and less known gems of the capital Sofia. Your tour leader will take you through narrow streets and charming neighborhoods while revealing the stories of the local people once living there.

Special attention is put on the notorious architecture of the buildings that you are going to see.
You will learn about the different periods of Sofia’s history and how each one of them reflected in the construction of the city through the years.

What to expect

After you meet your local guide in front of St. Aleksander Nevski’s Cathedral your afternoon urban adventure will begin with a visit to the major landmark - the biggest Christian Cathedral of Bulagia, followed by Sofia's hidden gem St. George Rotonda Church and the Basilica of Saint Sofia (6th century). In St. Georgi Rotonda take a glimpse inside the temple which represents the oldest still-functioning Christian monument in Europe, where your guide, who is an art historian, will explain in detail the meaning and symbolism behind the unique wall frescoes.
Enriching your knowledge further on the history of Sofia, you will travel back in time, passing through Roman ruins and Byzantine settlements.
You continue the tour, stopping at major landmarks such as the National Theatre, the Presidency, the oldest Garden of the capital and much more! At the end, you will be invited to taste excellent Bulgarian wines.
