Your adventure begins at the bustling Mae Klong Railway Market, where you'll witness a remarkable sight. As the train approaches, watch in awe as vendors swiftly retract their stalls and goods, making way for the passing train. Seeing this incredible spectacle, known as the "Umbrella Pulldown Market," is an experience that will leave you amazed.
One of the most striking segments of the whole Death Railway line is "Extension on the River Kwai", which was worked over a stretch of a stream that was then known as a feature of the MaeKlong River. The center segment of the current Kwai River Bridge is unique in relation to the encompassing region. It has been pulverized by bombs and has been revamped. It was not the first appearance during World War II.
On arrival at Kanchanaburi your first stop will be The Thailand Burma Railway Centre what is an interactive museum, information and research facility dedicated to presenting the history of the Thailand Burma Railway.
Visit Kanchanaburi War Cemetery which is memorial to some 6000 allied prisoners of war (POWs) who perished along the death railway line and were moved post-war to this eternal resting place.
