    Giant Panda Breeding Research Base (Xiongmao Jidi)

    This is a government-funded non-profit breeding and research institute for giant pandas, red pandas, and other rare animals. It started with 6 giant pandas that were rescued from the wild. By 2008, it had 124 panda births, and the captive panda population has grown to 83. Its stated goal is to "be a world-class research facility, conservation education center, and international educational tourism destination."

    Leshan Giant Buddha (Da Fo)

    The Leshan Giant Buddha is a 233 feet (71-meter) tall stone statue, built between 712 and 804 (during the Tang dynasty). It is carved out of a cliff face of Cretaceous red bed sandstones that lies at the confluence of the Min River and Dadu River in the southern part of Sichuan Province. It is the largest and tallest stone Buddha statue in the world and it is by far the tallest pre-modern statue in the world. The Mount Emei Scenic Area, including Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area, has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996.

    Emei Mountain

    8:30 am-14:30 am Catch bus and cable car to the mountain top to view the temples, Buddha status and the spectacular view if the weather is good. If not, we can drive to the halfway mountain and hike in the forest. Mount Emei, a scenic mountain area houses important Buddhist temples, is a 10,167 feet tall (3,099 meters) mountain in Sichuan Province and is the highest of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China. It was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. The first Buddhist temple in China was built here in the 1st century A.D. in the beautiful surroundings of the summit Mount Emei. Mount Emei is also notable for its exceptionally diverse vegetation, ranging from subtropical to subalpine pine forests.

    An early dinner during 15:30-16:30. Savor the flavors of Emaishan local food at the foot of Mount Emei before your 5 hours transfer (3-hour trian and 2-hour private car ride) to Jiuzhai Valley.

    Jiuzhaigou Natural Reserve

    Jiuzhaigou Valley, eulogized as a world of magical fairytale, has for years enchanted tourists with its mountains and luxuriant forests, colorful lakes, gushing waterfalls and abundant wildlife. To its south is the Huanglong (Yellow Dragon Scenic Area). Jiuzhaigou Valley is located in Jiuzhaigou County, 280 miles (450 kilometers) to the north of Chengdu City, Sichuan, covers a total area of 278 square miles (720 square kilometers) and the valley is 19 miles (50 kilometers) in length. In 1992, UNESCO entered this scenic area onto the world natural heritage list. Jiuzhaigou, literally the Nine Village Valley, is hence known for the nine Tibetan villages within its boundary, Inhabited by Tibetans, the nine villages and alpine lakes, are like reflecting mirrors or crystal jade blocks inlaid in snow mountains and forests.
