Câmara de Lobos. The name of this Village comes from the fact that, at the time of the island’s discovery, there was a large number of monk seals in the cove, which can still be found here today in the same configuration. In this region, several monuments remain that refer to this historical period, from the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, founded in the 15th century, to the old convent of São Bernardino, from 1425, passing by the church of São Sebastião, built in the 16th century. The landscape of this city is marked by the presence of characteristic fishing boats, known as "Xavelhas". Come with us to Câmara de Lobos! From this point we go up to the cliffs.
From the point view of Rancho on Câmara de Lobos we can see the beach of Fajã do Cabo Girão is one of the most special places on the south coast of Madeira Island. The exuberance of nature found in this narrow strip of land by the sea impresses any visitor. The coastal plains of Madeira are known for their high fertility. However, access to these small coastal territories has always been a challenge, given the difficult task of overcoming the steep rock walls that protect them. This is the case of the Cabo Girão plain, which for a long time was only accessible on foot (often carrying goods on their backs). Amazing view from the cliff where a cable car goes to the beach.
Cabo Girão at 580 meters high, Cabo Girão is the highest Cliff in Europe, but that’s not the only reason it has become increasingly famous around the world. Its viewpoint, with its famous suspended glass platform—called a skywalk—is currently one of the most visited (and certainly most photographed) tourist attractions in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos and the Madeira archipelago.
Ponta do Sol Village is located on the southwest coast of Madeira Island, Ponta do Sol is known for generally enjoying the highest number of sunshine hours per year. It is therefore a highly appreciated location for those seeking to enjoy sunny days on the beach or in contact with some of nature’s idyllic natural spots.
One of the most beautiful waterfalls on the island with stunning view to the ocean. Cascata dos Anjos means “waterfall of the Angels”. The waterfall gracefully descends from the heights of the surrounding . The lush greenery that frames the cascade adds to the idyllic scene, making it a picture-perfect spot for nature enthusiasts.
Arco da Calheta is beautiful tiny village we start going up from the sea to the mountains off-road up to Paul da Serra 1500m from the sea level.
Paul da Serra is the only plateau on the island. Situated at na altitude of approximately 1500 meters, it is home to valuable flora and fauna and offers unobstructed views. Paul da Serra offers breathtaking views of the mountain peaks and deep valleys that characterize the surrounding area. On days with good visibility, it is possible to see the coastline of both the south and north coasts. The landscape, however, is dominated by the green tones of nature.
In Fanal, the spotlight is undoubtedly given to the centuries-old laurel (Ocotea foetens) forest—these specimens date back even before the discovery of the archipelago. They are part of the indigenous Laurissilva forest, which here is expressed in a state of conservation that impresses with its vibrancy. Among viewpoints, a leisure area with a public barbecue, and a winter lagoon formed from na ancient crater, there are many natural corners of the Fanal Forest in Madeira where you can marvel, have fun, walk, or simply relax (this area is, incidentally, classified as a Rest and Silence Reserve by the Madeira Natural Park). Marked by the presence of a centuries-old laurel forest, Fanal is known for its mystical landscape. In this forested area, natural surprises abound at every turn.
Ribeira da Janela Village with a river of the same name flows into the sea in the parish of Ribeira da Janela. It is the longest and most abundant river in the interior of Madeira Island. Originating in the mountains, this waterway crosses the Madeiran mountain range until it empties into the Atlantic Ocean. Near the coastline rise the famous islets of Ribeira da Janela, made up of impressive rock formations that mark the maritime landscape. At the top of one of them, the rock has na opening that resembles a Window.
Porto Moniz Village is a must-see destination, whether for its natural beauty, the trails that cross the Laurissilva forest, or the iconic natural pools, Porto Moniz also boasts na important historical and cultural heritage. This entire region is profoundly marked by the botanical diversity of the Laurissilva forest, which, from its heights, confronts the imposing northern sea through its cliffs, bluffs, and coves. The sea, which exerts a vigorous presence along the entire Madeiran coast. We stop for 2h lunch and swimming .
Seixal Village black sandy beach contrasting with the verdant mountains overlooking it, bathed by a crystal-clear sea: this is how the idyllic scenery of Porto de Abrigo beach in Seixal can be described. The scenery unfolds in harmonious tones: a black sandy beach bathed by the Atlantic and sheltered by verdant cliffs and mountains. This place therefore resembles a green amphitheater, offering bathers a peaceful atmosphere. We stop for swimming.
São Vicente it's amazing sea, mountains and waterfalls. We stop for Madeira wine tasting.
