What to expect
This moderate 4-hour round-trip hike covers approximately 8 km (5 miles) with an elevation gain of about 500 m (1,640 ft). Along the way, walk through cloud forest and volcanic landscapes while learning about the area's geology, history, and ecosystems. At the summit, admire the stunning emerald-green crater lake and panoramic views of Coatepeque Lake, Izalco Volcano, and, on clear days, the Pacific Ocean.
