What to expect

Begin your adventure with a visit to Prison Island, just a half-hour journey from Stone Town. Famous for its giant tortoises, which have been residing there since 1919 after being brought from Aldabra, Seychelles, the island is a fantastic spot for both snorkeling and sunbathing. Once a quarantine station, it later became the site for the British-built Stone Town prison in the 1890s, though the prison was never actually used.

Afterward, head back to Stone Town for a historical walk through this UNESCO World Heritage site. Discover iconic landmarks such as the Old Market, established in 1903, where sections are dedicated to fish, meat, vegetables, fruits, and spices. Visit sites like the House of Wonders (National Museum), Tippu Tip House, the former English Club (Africa House), and the Old Fort. Stroll through the charming alleys with their distinct doors and wooden balconies, and take a moment to explore the Palace Museum, Old Dispensary, and the Former Slave Market (optional).
